An Egg-Celent Cake! is a comedy short and parody cooking video uploaded to the PaulWesNick channel. At he time of its upload, it was the largest PWN video in terms of scope and cast, featuring seven actors and a cameo appearance. The video is a school project for Nick's and Ari's Honors Biology project in October of 2015. The video was the first upload to the PWN channel after summer of 2015.

Plot[edit | edit source]

Henry, Kelvin, Nick, and Ari have a school project to be doing, however they cannot, due to an ineptness at baking cakes. As if by magic, The Egg (Wes Davies) enters to much applause, and lets out a string of awful egg puns. He promises to teach the group about cakes, as well as the chemical properties of eggs and macromolecules.

After some explanation about the science of eggs, the group bakes a cake, which comes out beautifully. The judges are impressed, giving the cake a "2.5 out of 3". The group wins the competition, and Wes finishes off the short with one more eggcelent egg pun.

Cast[edit | edit source]

A fame from the project, showing the four project leaders.

The following cast list is based off the end credits of the short:

Tyler Hollander makes a cameo appearance as the voice of "Sad Egg", the egg whose father is smashed in the banana scene.

Production[edit | edit source]

The Egg-Celent Cake! marks the first appearance on Ari Froelich on the channel, as well as the first short to feature Wes. It was also the largest PWN project at the time of its upload, having taken two days, a reshoot, and eight actors to complete.

The project was concieved by Ari and Nick, who were brainstorming for their Honors Biology assignment. The two shared a group, along with Kelvin Hui and Henry Chambers. The idea for a sitcom style show came up early on, at Nick's suggestion. He wrote the script over a period of two days (a script from which barely any dialogue was used). The choice of making Wes "The Egg" was both spontaneous and well recieved. It was his idea to be wearing a cut out egg, which Nick made himself.

Filming took place at Ari's house over a two day period. The very first scene filmed was the opening egg pun routine, where Kelvin ended up extending production time by twenty minutes due to an inability to memorize lines and timing. Kelvin's "protein intolerant" line was improvised by Nick on set.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Wes was the one who wrote all his egg puns (sadly), including some which were improvised on the spot. This is also similar to the many puns used in Bowl of Nays: CdM Eats.
  • Despite being a school project, extreme effort was put into the video to make it entertaining to a non-educational audience.
  • The cake we see being served in the video is actually the second cake made. The first cake was very watery and gooey, a result of Henry pouring in an extra cup of water. Additionally, nobody greased the pans, so the cake got stuck to the cake tin. On the day of presenting in the biology class, yet a third cake had to be made, this time with the chocolate frosting which was missing the first time.
  • Neither Jacob nor Finlay were originally going to be in the episode. However, Finlay was neighbors with Ari, and Jacob had stayed at Ari's the night before.
  • The tape holding up Wes' costume changes in almost every shot he is in, as it constantly fell apart while shooting. One instance of this was left in the final project.
  • This was Jacob's first time being in a PWN video, however he had previously made a short film with Nick in fifth grade, along with Ford Fairon.
  • The final score on the project was a 91%, due to Kelvin not cleaning the group's food station when the project was over.
  • Of the over three hours of footage shot, only five minutes (or less than 3%) was used in the final product.
  • A physical poster was made for the video, as an additional part of the project, though that is now missing. Among the many jokes included on the poster were fake reviews from Miley Cyrus, Donald Trump, Barack Obama, and Neil DeGrasse Tyson. Wesley Davies was also described as a "World renowned chef and Scientologist". The infamous Anaconda Joke was also included on the poster.
