Marvel: PWN #3 is the third episode of PWN, uploaded on November 8, 2014. It features Paul Gaurano, Wes Davies, and Nick Geoghegan. The trio spend the episode talking about upcoming Marvel movies (specifically Phases 2 and 3), as well as current Marvel films from Phase 1. The video marks the last released episode of PWN to feature Paul, though is not the last PWN with him to be filmed.

Description[edit | edit source]

The episode features an extensive discussion of Marvel films, particularly future releases. In order, the group talks about Spider-Man, X-Men, Avengers, Thor, Guardians of the Galaxy, Hulk, Civil War, Age of Ultron, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, and Infinity War. Wes also talks about Squirrel Girl, calling her his favorite superhero. They also mention Incredibles, Iron Giant, and Deadpool.

Inside Jokes[edit | edit source]

Only a few "inside jokes" were created in PWN #3, though several from the prior two episodes are refered to.

  • The Dos Tacitos Song - The song is first referenced in this video, when Paul and Wesley begin to sing it. It is regarded as one of the most recognizable PWN jokes. The full stanza can be heard in the bloopers video for the episode.

The following previous jokes are referenced in the episode:

  • "Batman!" - Paul references the joke, and the clip from PWN 1 is shown.
  • "My hair is my horns!" - Paul refrences the joke from PWN 2.

Additionally, the following inside jokes come from the episode's blooper video, [].

  • "Ebola Soup" - Paul makes this joke for seemingly no reason. Acts as the episode's namesake.
  • "Let's do this!" - In an unexpected outburst, Paul shouts at every member of PWN, telling them to continue their work. Though the outburst was done seriously, there is a certain irony to it, as Paul was interupting Nick in order to tell Wes to stop interupting. Additionally, Paul is usually the reason production would slow down to begin with.
  • "Machi-poochi" - To be fair, even we aren't sure why Paul did this.
  • "Is okay, is wooden, it doesn't hurt" - Paul says this famous phrase after slamming a seventy dollar fingerboard into the wall. The joke is personal favorite of both Wes and Nick.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • PWN #3 was the first episode of PWN to feature a "featured comment".
  • The PWN logo in the thumbnail features Iron Man's core in place of Hal.
  • This episode was the first of many to feature discussion of Marvel. The episode is referenced (not by name) in A Sneak Peek at 2019 - PWN 31, when Ari asks about the Marvel phases, and Nick mentions that they were covered in "an old PWN".
  • The episode is often credited among Wesley's least favorite, second only to the episodes featuring Ford Fairon. Nick states that the episode is good in principle, but is hindered by the lack of comedy, adding that "Paul is really the only thing keeping it watchable. We have PWN number seven to prove that this episode would not have worked without him."
