Data Storage Corner is a recurring segment and inside joke on the PostPWN podcast. The corner originated with PostPWN #3: Back from the Dead, Scream, when Nick discussed Microsoft's Project Silica. Since then, the corner has been included or mentioned in episodes with varying levels of sincerity, often at the expense of Nick's sanity.

Jokingly, PostPWN has been referred to as "a closeted data storage podcast".

Usage on PostPWN[edit | edit source]

The first instance of Data Storage Corner was in the third episode of PostPWN, when Nick introduced Microsoft's Project Silica as a news topic. Ari considered the topic "less movie news and more data storage news", to which Nick jokingly referred to "this week's Data Storage Corner".

The origin of the corner as an inside joke began with PostPWN #6: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. While discussing the lack of listener questions that week, Wesley jokingly references the Data Storage Corner, following up with "if you don't send us a question, at least send us some data storage news". Ari adds on, saying, "we will hold Data Storage Corner hostage if you don't leave anything on the subreddit". This threat is repeated in the seventh episode.

The corner formally returns in PostPWN #10, when Nick declares the corner is released. They discuss current trends, and as Nick relates from the article, "hyper-converged infrastructure will see increased adoption in video surveillance". Wesley reminds the audience to leave questions in order to hear the next episode's Data Storage Corner. This causes some contention in the subsequent episode when Nick refuses to host the corner despite receiving a question. He begrudgingly looks for an article while arguing with the others, finding an article from Georgia Tech News Center about DNA storage.

In season two, PostPWN #16 features another heated debate over data storage and its inclusion in the podcast. Wesley references a recent review received by the podcast, claiming PostPWN is "the only podcast that blends film news with data storage news". Nick does not commit to the bit, looking up an article about blockchain encryption, but cutting off the discussion to transition to the Spotlight. In conjunction with episode 17's Corona Corner, two data storage topics are discussed. PostPWN #18 also features a dedicated corner.
