Spectre Spookers - The Haunted Warehouse is a comedic horror sketch uploaded to the PaulWesNick channel on January 16, 2019. It was the first original content on the channel of 2019. The sketch was conceptualized by Nick Geoghegan, Stephen Weinstock, and Lucan Alto Stargiotti, but no script was written, and the whole video was improvised by its actors. The video stars Geoghegan alongside Chris Smith, Wade Wilson, and Phoebe Moreno. The video is narrated by Stephen Weinstock.
The video follows a fictional ghost-hunting crew as they film an episode of their show, “Spectre Spookers”, but the warehouse where they film turns out to actually be haunted.
Description[edit | edit source]
Plot[edit | edit source]
Jim Bobblestein introduces his crew, and a narrator explains that today's episode takes place in a warehouse in Northern Kansas. As they wander about, they find small spooky occurences, such as rust (which is mistaken for blood) and a wooden plank with the word "HOLE" spray painted on it. We also learn about the back stories of several crew members, primarily Wade and the two Jims.
Suddenly, they hear spooky noises, and during an analysis of the sound, they find a poster saying "Turn Around". Turning around, they find another poster reading "Boo!". More noises can be heard. As they investigate furhter, they reach the back of the warehouse. Bored into the wall is a small crawlspace, which the two Jims enter. They notice something staring at them in the dark, and after a brief panic, discover a bust of President Lincoln. Just then, the spirits attack and they are forced to run.
Jim Bobblestein explains that the warehouse was haunted by the ghosts of children inadvertently killed by their anti-vax mothers.
Cast[edit | edit source]
- Nick Geoghegan as Jim Bobblestein
- Phoebe Moreno as Carla Bobblette
- Chris Smith as Jim the Cameraman
- Wade Wilson as Wade
- Narrated by Stephen Weinstock
The additions of Phoebe and Chris to the cast were last minute replacements for Stephen and Lucan, who were unavailable during the filming of the video
Background[edit | edit source]
The video was recorded entirely improvised during a single lunch period at the end of December. Nick had intended to go into "the warehouse" with Lucan, Stephen, and Wade. However, two of them were unavailable. When Wade arrived with Phoebe, Nick called Chris to come with no warning of what they would be doing. There was a very loose script, with the major points being the path around the warehouse, the signs, and the Lincoln head. The head was originally intended to be a simple skull, but the propr that they were going to use had been broken, so the statuette was borrowed from a teacher instead.
Editing
The video was also edited largely inclass the same day that it was shot, using Adobe Premier. As such, it is the first and so far only video edited on a non-Apple product.
