The Great PWN Game Show - PWN #42 is the forty-second episode of PWN, uploaded to PaulWesNick on August 30, 2019. It features Ari Froehlich, Wesley Davies, and Nick Geoghegan hosting a game show covering PWN quotes and trivia from throughout the history of the series. Clips from PWNs as old as Interstellar: PWN #1 were featured and discussed. Nick referred to the episode as "our clipshow episode". Upon its release it overtook The Dark Knight - PWN #30 as the longest episode of PWN at just under forty minutes in length.

Description[edit | edit source]

The episode opens with acknowledgement that the endgame of PaulWesNick has been reached. Before beginning the game shows, the titles featured in The Untitled PWN are revisited. Since that episode's release, almost every film featured has received substantial updates regarding plot or release. The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part is also briefly reviewed.

Game Show #1: Whose Line is it Anyway[edit | edit source]

This game show features Ari as the singular contestant, attempting to guess which member of PWN said a quote read by either Wesley or Nick. Clips are shown for most of the quotes referenced. This includes episodes with both Paul Gaurano and Ford Fairon. One point was rewarded for getting the name right, and one extra point would be awarded for getting the number of the episode correct.

Quotes used:

  • "We are all inside each other." - Wesley Davies, PWN #10 (1 point)
  • "Listen here you little squirts. I knew that you'd do this, so I stole the entirety of Europe and also put it in the desert." - Nick Geoghegan, PWN #4 (1 point)
  • "Wink wink. Wink. Glottal stop." - Nick Geoghegan, PWN #8 (0 points)
  • "Grab the Shakeer O'Nealers." - Ari Froehlich, PWN #15 (1 point)
  • "I'm gonna subscribe. I'm gonna make ten thousand YouTube accounts and subscribe them all!" - Paul Gaurano, PWN #1 (0 points)
  • "There's a gnome, and he's taking a shit on the toilet. As you do, as you do as a gnome." - Wesley Davies, PWN #16 (1 point)
  • "It's a female pizza!" - Ari Froehlich, PWN #6 (1 point)
  • "There's a very obvious trend: that, there's no trend." - Ari Froehlich, PWN #10 (1 point)
  • "Look at that smile. That's the smile of a sex pervert." - Nick Geoghegan, PWN #10 (0 points)
  • "Alexa, stop the Buble." - Ari Froehlich, PWN #14 (1 point)
  • "The woman is Meryl Streep, who plays Sarah Palin." - Wesley Davies, PWN #4 (0 points)
  • "You see Wes? Wes is gone, right. Wanna see a magic trick? (clap and Wesley appears) And we're back!" - Ford Fairon, PWN #5 (0 points)
  • "I told them my pineapple." - Wesley Davies, PWN #6 (0 points)
  • "The more Adam Sandlers you add to a movie, the funnier it gets." - Ari Froehlich, PWN #12 (1 point)
  • "Get them China bucks." - Nick Geoghegan, PWN #15 (0 points)
  • "I'm Ricky Mouse!" - Ari Froehlich/Wesley Davies, PWN #16 (1 point, turned down)
  • "That's so sad. Almost a year ago today I talked about the Emoji Movie alone in my garage." - Ari Froehlich, PWN #16 (0 points)
  • "I love how we talk so much shit on the industry but we literally are the least qualified ppl to do so" - Text message by Ari Froehlich, PWN #14 (1 point)
  • "Movies no longer care about producing good movies." - Ari Froehlich, PWN #10 (no point given)

Game Show #2: Insert Name of Game Show[edit | edit source]

This game show was between Wesley and Ari, as they attempt to answer PWN trivia questions as quickly as possible. Despite having been around on PWN for longer and being more familiar with the earlier episode, the two contestants bounced between first and second for most of the episode. In the end, no winner was declared.

During the segment, a clip from Interstellar: PWN #1 is shown. Thumbnails from multiple videos are shown throughout. All guests from every episode of PWN are mentioned. In order, these guests are: Kiersten Muse, Lucan Stargiotti, Chloe Smith, Joey Cianfrani, Chris Smith, and Kyle Smith. In a question cut from the final video, Nick also asks about the three people who have sat in on a filming of an episode: Wade Mickley and Grace Shackleford sat in on Teen Movie Marathon - PWN #26, and Marc Guildenhuys sat in on A Sneak Peak at 2019 - PWN #31. Furthermore, Lucan was present for the filming of Seeing What Sticks - PWN #33, and can be heard contributing to the discussion several times. Jeffery Liebfried is also mentioned during the trivia, who was present for both Marvel: PWN #3 and the long unreleased special Our Fandoms: PWN #4. In a similar vein, Stephen Weinstock's infamous invasion of Oscar Bait - PWN #32 is mentioned. That appearance was not referenced in the actual video, but is watchable on the PWN 2 channel under the title Stephen Intrudes on PWN - PWN 32 Extras and BTS.

A shot from the unreleased video "The Jubisu Files" as featured in PWN #42.

At one point, King Jubisu is mentioned and discussed. The account infamously left a rather pedophilic comment on an early episode of PWN asking the trio to "measure their hands and feet in a video". The group never did so on video, but a brief clip is included in PWN #42 of unreleased footage from a video Nick entitled "The Jubisu Files", which was recorded in tandem with Monster Movies: PWN #2. This is the most recent release of previously unseen footage including Paul Gaurano in any early episode of PWN. Crazy Crab is also mentioned.

The music of PWN is also discussed in this episode, with Nick making reference to the usage of Kevin Macleod's "Unity", and DJVI's songs "Back on Track" and "Elemelons", all three of which are sampled for that segment. The group acknowledges the music's usage in the mobile game Geometry Dash and in early episodes of PWN. Both DJVI songs were first used for the outro of a PWN video in Disappointing Movies: PWN #8. Nick also explains that "Unity" was the only track used for the first three episodes of PWN, serving as both the intro and outro song for those videos.

Michael Stevens of VSauce is also referred to throughout the episode, with the trio acknowledging that channel's influence on PWN by having VSauce serve as the fictional "sponsor" of a question regarding PWN #19. Ari and Wesley take turns repeating quotes backwards, accompanied by music by Jake Chudnow. Michael's recently-born daughter Maeve is also mentioned and shown. The video referenced in particular is Spooky Coincidences.

Outro[edit | edit source]

The outro segment of PWN #42 should be notable for being the first to feature the "wall of logos" that earlier episodes employed prominently.
