The PWNNIE Awards, or "The PWNIEs", is an annual awards show presented by PWN, usually in late February or early March. The nominees are chosen by the trio, and presented in a ceremony. Of the five PWNIEs, two were filmed and uploaded to the PWN channel, and one was posted in an audio format on PostPWN. The other two remain unreleased in any public format.

The number of categories and the order of presentation varies from year to year, however most of the categories stay consistent. The prize for best film of the year is known as the "Golden Egg Award", while the inverse award for worst film of the year is the "Rotten Tomato Award". In 2020, the acting categories were split into lead and supporting categories, to allow for more nominees. As of the most recent presentation, there are twenty-six categories: eight with negative connotations and eighteen with positive connotations.

The fifth ceremony, honoring 2019 films, introduced the most new categories since the beginning of the show. A total of five new categories were introduced, with the best acting categories being split into "lead" and "supporting" subsections, and introducing a new award presented by Ari. The show also reintroduced two discontinued awards, "Best Fight Scene" and "Best Hero-Villain Pair".

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • As of 2020, forty-one movies have been nominated for the prestigious Golden Egg Award. Of these, only thirteen were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. Three of the winners of the Golden Egg were not Best Picture nominees, and only Parasite has won both the Golden Egg and Best Picture.
  • The film with the most nominations in a single PWNIEs ceremony was Parasite, with 12 nominations. It only received one award, the Golden Egg. The most awarded film in a single ceremony was Mad Max: Fury Road, which took home 5 of its 10 nominations, including the Golden Egg.
  • The record for the film with the most nominations without a single win is Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, which had 7 nominations but won no awards.
  • Six movies are tied for the most negative nominations at 4. Four of these movies had only negative nominations (The Emoji Movie, Justice League, The Meg, and The Playmobil Movie), while the other two (Batman v. Superman and Star Wars: Episode IX) had one and two positive nominations respectively.
  • Twenty-two actors and actresses have been nominated for at least two acting PWNIEs, out of 158 total nominees. Of these, John Cena has been nominated three times and Adam Driver has been nominated four times, neither having won any awards.
  • Only one person has won two acting PWNIEs, that being Emma Stone who won two consecutive Best Actress Awards in 2016 and 2017.
